Fans of Portishead, Tori Amos, Björk, Sade, and the vocal acrobatics of Bobby McFerrin will feel right at home here. The vocal surfing between styles is extraordinary, and it’s hard to believe that all these tracks feature the voice of a single artist. I can’t stop listening.

"Stardust Crystals" is not the first album by Yumi Ito, but a very special one. All eight pieces on it are self-composed, arranged and sung and accompanied by a ten-piece ensemble and can hardly be packed stylistically into a few terms -and that's good, because the sonic diversity is one of the qualitative features. In addition, the Swiss has a wonderful, varied voice.
